Prince Owusu scores a penalty shot to give the lead to CF Montreal, but the team soon concedes a goal as they tied 1-1-1 vs DC United

CF Montreal coming in.

After the high of signing Alexis Sanchez, it's time to get to reality that this team, quite frankly, is not good.

We have not won 7 straight MLS games and as a fans we are getting restless. The signing is good but we need more, because 1 player can't change everything.

Today, however, is the debut of Brayan Ceballos, who comes from New England Revolution. Thomas Gillier should also return in goal today.

This team desperately needs a win or something to be proud of.

DC United coming in.

DC United is coming in with a loss 5 games in which is impressive. Despite 4 of them being draws this consistency is very well and shows theres some form here.

Louis Munteanu and Tai Baribo are two players CF Montreal should be careful of as they have been very clinical this season. This strike partnership has combined for 17 goals so far in this campaign and that is insanity.

This team will be another challenge for this struggling CF Montreal side.

Starting Lineups

CF Montréal (4-3-3): Thomas Gillier; Luca Petrasso, Brayan Vera, Jalen Neal, Brayan Ceballos; Victor Loturi, Daniel Pereira, Fabian Herbers; Noah Streit, Prince Owusu, Hennadiy Synchuk

DC United (4-4-2): Sean Johnson; Keisuke Kurokawa, Sean Nealis, Matti Peltola, Silvan Hefti; Kimito Nono, Andre Dozzell, Brandon Servania, Jackson Hopkins; Louis Munteanu, Tai Baribo

The Game

The game started off heavily in DC United favour as they were applying heavy pressure on them very early.

Montreal was able to generate a couple chances, but nothing was able to go in as Synchuk decided not to shoo when the ball was at his feet in a prime opportunity.

The rest of the game was calmly back and forth until half time where the deadlock hit 0-0 and CF Montreal had a small presentaition for Alexis Sanchez.

In the 50th minute, DC United's Keisuke Kurokawa conceded a penality as he was shown a yellow card after VAR confirmed the ball hit is hand in the penality spot. Prince Owusu converts with ease.

The game started to slowly transition into CF Montreal's favour but DC United was obviously not finished.

In the 67th minute, Kimito Nono gets a cross around the corner and Tai Baribo gets a scorching header in to tie the game.

CF Montreal was applying alot of the pressure at the end of the game and Synchuk was in another prime chance for a goal and missed wide on another very easy goal, and Prince Owusu was very furious.

Olgar Escobar was subbed in the end and tried to play hero, but nothing came up and the whislte blew at a 1-1 game.

Synchuk's Fallen Form

I think it comes to no surprise that after the break I was a big fan on Hennadiy Synchuk and how his style of play looked.

A couple of games has past and honestly he gets worse and worse. This game showed it as he basically missed 2 empty nets which cause Prince Owusu to get mad and throw the goalkeepers water bottle.

I think that his time in the starting lineup is nearing the end as Wiki Carmona and Alexis Sanchez passed their recent physicals and will be back soon. This will demote Synchuk and bring some much needed attacking creativity back to the team that we desperately need.

I’m hoping they are back next game but in all honestly I have zero idea if they will, and we might need another dull dribbling performance from Synchuk.

The Future

Prince Owusu needs help.

I feel like I am banging the same drum here or ringing the same bell but he desperately needs a section option because now the frustration is getting to him.

Alexis Sanches and Wiki Carmona are needed desperately and I hope that next game we see them.

A tie is a decent result but the offense is so uninspiring if nobody can hit our target man effectively.
