CF Montreal Recap - Roberto Vera-los (August 1st 2026)
CF Montreal was able to rally a comeback after going down 2-0 to the New England Revolution to end the game 2-2-2.
CF Montreal coming in.
To keep this brutally honest, after attending last game the team has a serious issue finishing any sort of effective chances.
Prince Owusu will always be the main man but the lack of secondary scoring options prevented any sort of threat in the game Vs Inter Miami. You can read the full breadown here. Prince was neutralized and the team is hoping that they are able to generate some of the scoring that is needed.
Hopefully they generate something here. Once again, the team is desperatley missing the secondary scoring that comes with a player like Wiki Carmona.
NY Revolution Coming In.
The Revolution are playing an incredible game so far, being third in the East through the guidance of Marko Mitrovic.
This team in general has a lot of stars. Carlos Gil is one of the best attacking midfielders in the league, and with USA International goalie Matt Turner also coming back, they are seemingly an unstoppable force.
The Game
This game started off heavily in the Revolutions favour at they were utterly destroying this CF Montreal team.
The Rev were awarded a penalty shot after the ball hit Efrain Morales arm, and Carles Gil, as composed as ever, slots the ball in for an early 1-0 lead in the 30th minute
Not even six minutes later, as Dor Turgman was all alone in the box, Peyton Miller was able to get a well-timed cross to him, and it's now 2-0 for the Revolution.
This goal stirred a lot of controversy as Turgman seemingly gestured to the CF Montreal crowd it was reported that fans were hearing derogatory chants.

The rest of the half was all in New England Revolution's favour as they were just going at this weak CF Montreal team.
Once the game came back from the half, there was a shift in this CF Montreal side. They seemed a lot more energized and ready to play.
In the 51st minute Brayan Vera scores one of the best goals I have even seen in my life.

Legitimately a masterclass at work. This brings all the passion and momentum into a once-depleted CF Montreal side. I am calling him Roberto Vera-los in the title for a very good reason.
Shortly after, in the 59th minute, CF Montreal is creating more chances, and Lucas Petrasso gets a cross around to Prince Owusu, and he does what he does best. Simply sensational stuff from our leading scorer, and the game is level at 2-2.
After this, the Revolution was generating more momentum as Turgmen was on a heater, generating chances in the 62nd and 68th minutes, but Breza was all over that.
The game was seemingly quiet with both teams going back and forth and the whistle blows for a 2-2 draw.
Prince Owusu
This game, as much as we broke our 3-game goalless streak, was not the best, and there is little to talk about, except for Prince.

He was insanely dominant, generating a lot of the offensive pressure and creating chances for this CF Montreal side that's lacking creation. Hell, our defenseman had to step out and take an absolute wordie. He is the Player of the game for Montreal and a true ace for us.
Brayan Vera
I have to mention him because of the goal he created but it's a breath of fresh air to see a player on this team just say it's my time and im gonna do this.

In reality, it's an outrageous shot. Nobody in their right mind should ever take a shot like that. That's what we need. CF Montreal needs risk takers. They need players that will actually take risks and not go for the extra pass.
This team has a serious issue when it comes to secondary scoring, as previously mentioned, and our defenseman has to step up and get it done. It's ridiculous, but it's warranted for now and was a massive help.
The Future
This team realistically doesn't play too badly. It's just a lack of upper-level talent in comparison to a lot of the over players in the league.
The recent trade for Brayan Ceballos should take Efrain Morales out of the lineup, who has been playing truly horrible the last couple of games, and the defense will be alot better. This brings some talent to the backline, but Owusu is suffering all alone up top.
Once CF Montreal get Wiki Carmona back, hopefully it adds a secondary scoring option. If not, Saputo needs to let some money fly.
Next Game
CF Montreal will take on DC United on Saturday, August 15th at 7:30PM at Saputo Stadium!
